Sharon Mosley (author) and Maya Mosley (artist) are a mother-daughter team.

SHARON, who was born in southwestern Arkansas, spent most of her adult years living and working as an attorney in California.  She is now retired in Maui, Hawaii where she is learning about creativity and relaxation.  She is combining her love for storytelling, writing and being a grandmother by developing a children's story series to teach positive, universal values about appreciating the joy and flow of life.

MAYA is an independent study teacher, foster parent, seamstress and designer under the design name ay.am.  Many of her designs, including the collage illustrations, take something old and turn it  into something new.  As a textile artist and designer, Maya is influenced by folk art design and African American quilting styles with particular reverence to her southern matrilineal and patrilineal ancestors, who followed the quilting and piecework tradition.  Maya lives in Oakland, California.
